System Requirements
Our web conferencing works with virtually any computer with
an internet connection and web browser, PROVIDED the seminar
participant can dial into the conferencing calling part of
the seminar on a phone line WHILE their computer is connected
to the internet.
Optimal use is available on the following platforms:
- Internet Explorer 5.0 or greater on Windows NT, 2000 or
XP
- Internet Explorer 4.0 or greater on Windows 95, 98, MAC
OS 9.x and 10.x all work as well, but may have less interactivity
functions than IE 5.0 or greater
- Firefox 1.0, Mozilla and Opera on Windows, MAC and UNIX
all work too, but also may have less interactivity functions
than IE 5.0 or greater
- New versions of Firefox on Windows 'may' allow full functionality,
but we have not had a chance to test it.
We have had various degrees of success with dial-up users.
Most connect just fine, provided they don't use the video
conferencing part of the seminar (don't worry, you don't need
to see our faces to get everything possible out of our seminars).
Others have had such slow performance that it gets a bit frustrating.
EITHER WAY, BEFORE SIGNING UP FOR THE SEMINAR, WE STRONGLY
ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO DO THE FOLLOWING:
- Make sure you have the latest version of Internet Explorer,
and use it for the seminar.
- Make sure you have "pop-up windows" enabled.
If you use Internet Explorer to block pop-ups, you must
enable them. Go to "Tools", then "Internet
Options," then "Privacy," then make sure
the "Block Pop-Ups" box at the bottom of the window
is NOT checked. If you use a third-party pop-up blocker,
please disable it.
- Run the web conferencing test and video install wizard
at https://www.coitalk.net/client_test.htm.
If you have dial-up only, it's probably not worth your time
to get the video conferencing working. If you pass all the
tests, go to step 6 below.
- If the web conferencing test and video install wizard
says you are having problems, 95% of them can be taken care
of by either enabling pop-ups or by making sure you have
the latest versions of Java. There are two files that need
to be current (if you have a new computer, they probably
already are current). The first (Java) can be download here:
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp,
under "windows manual installation." Please download
to your computer and install. The second (Java Media Frameworks)
can be downloaded here:
http://jmf.coitalk.com. Please download and install
this file AFTER installing the first Java file. Once you
turn off pop-ups and download the latest versions of Java,
go back to step 3 above.
- If you are still having problems, contact Coitalk,
our web conferencing company. In the USA or Canada, send
emails to support@coitalk.com
or call 1-866-264-8613. From other countries, send
emails to support@coitalk.com.
To speak to a support person, email your name and best time
to call and CoItalk will call you directly or you may call
direct to +1 650 851 2468
- Once everything is working, we encourage you to take the
web conferencing tutorial available at http://tutorial.coitalk.net/,
to familarize yourself with all the features available in
the web conference. It takes about 15 minutes to take.
