How Webinars Work

When you register for a webinar, you will provide us with your email address and the phone number you will use to call into the webinar (don't worry, you can change the phone number at anytime).

Then, about 60 minutes before the seminar begins, you will be emailed two pieces of information:

1) a web link that you can either click on or paste into your web browser

2) a phone number and pin number to enter the conference call.

About 15 to 30 minutes before the seminar begins, log into the web site using the link we emailed you. You don't need any special software - just a standard web browser with "pop-ups" turned on and java enabled. (There is more information on "pop-ups" and java in the "system requirements" section). Note, when you log in, you will have the chance to fill in your name - please do so. Also note that on computers with slow connection speeds, it can take a good 5 to 10 minutes for the seminar to fully load onto your computer.

When the web-conference fully loads onto your computer, you will have 5 web browser windows open. One will be the original page from which you logged in. Another will show the conference number. Another will be a chat program. Another will be a window to see video of the moderator. And finally, there will be a main window from which you can view presentations offered by the moderator.

While the web-conference is loading, please dial into the conference call and enter your pin number. (Note: this is NOT a toll-free call. If you don't have free long-distance, we can refer you to calling cards that charge as little as one cent a minute to connect to the conference call).

When the seminar begins, the moderator will talk to all participants over the phone, while simultaneously showing slides, spreadsheets, word documents, web sites, etc. through the web conference. Participants can ask questions either by speaking or by typing into the chat window. The moderator can allow participants, at appropriate times, to annotate and highlight documents, and also to actually take control of documents over the internet and enter text or numbers into programs. All participants in the seminars see all the annotations, highlights and document revisions as they are made, creating a truly interactive web-conferencing experience.

Further, for those with high-speed internet connections, you can activate your video window and actually watch the moderator in real-time.
